I moved my account, as the numbers in the username amongst other things were driving me bananas. My style has also moved from that of an anime-esque one to something a little more homegrown, so I would really prefer a fresh start on my gallery. Sorry to anyone this inconveniences or upsets.

The lurkening.

Well, it's been pretty neat. This makes... what? Three times I'll be leaving forever? Bah. I don't think of it that way. The last two were because of petty drama that I'll admit was on my behalf. I'm also not leaving. This is different.

DeviantArt is a large community. It has a lot of great artists, and I do mean a LOT. As such, it's hard for the fledgling, "not so great" artists to get the attention they crave, and the number of helpful critiques they would like to better shape their development. I'm one such artist. But hey, I'm not saying that I'm mad about it. Like I said, it's a big place, and even the best of the best here get next to nil for actual critiques.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm just not finding the will to keep posting art that will continually go unnoticed. DA updates fast. You sumbit a pic, and before you can even get to the front page again, it's been spammed off by the other three hundred thousand new images being uploaded. And hey, I'm not sore about that.

To all you great artists out there, keep up the awesome work. Seriously. You're what inspires me to keep picking up my pencil. I don't wish for your ability, but I do wish that you continue to help the rest of us develop our own skills by way of posting helpful tips and/or tutorials. No, of course you aren't obligated to do so, and you shouldn't feel that way. But I promise you it will make someone's day.

To the other artists like myself, who go largely unnoticed and overlooked, be it from a lack of skill, being spammed off the front page, or what have you - keep at it. I noticed something recently. When I first joined DA, I just wanted to share my work, and see if anyone had anything constructive to tell me about it. Every now and then, yeah. I got what I was looking for. But the more and more infrequent that happened, I began to feel like my art was just... well, mediocre. And if that's the case, then I'll have to improve, with the help of others or not.

If you want those comments, you have to work for them. Take a look at yourself before you start getting upset with the community. Do YOU look at art that you don't find particularly well-drawn and leave a comment? I'm ashamed to admit that I don't. That alone revokes my right to complain about a deficit in helpful feedback concerning my gallery.

"Me, me, me!" We're all guilty of it now and then.

As for myself, I'm going to stop here. I won't be posting anything really new for awhile. Not that I have been, anyway. But I just don't feel like sharing anymore - not right now. I'll be back, though. I'm not taking down my gallery in a mad huff, not deleting all my journal entries, not cursing any staff or the community as a whole.

Deviant art has been very good to me, and I look forward to the day that I return with some sharp new artwork to fill my gallery. Until then, I will lurk, and use this account to keep tabs on my watchees and watchers.

Thank you DA and staff for an awesome art community, and for supplying me with a place to show off my work. Another huge thanks to all my watchers and anyone who has left any sort of comment or critique on my work - you don't know how much you help just by saying something.

It's been real, folks. Keep those artsy minds busy!

BETA TESTING!

Though I have no idea where the content I'm testing is. Odd.

School is evil. I owe three assignments in english that will rope me in a ZERO, but have to be done regardless because I need a complete portfolio to graduate. There's been a lot of downtime in the shop lately because of peoples' personal matters and some of the seniors taking NATEF exams. Friday looks like it MIGHT be a solid work day, but I dunno.

Anyhooz, I've been drawing up a storm lately. By tonight I'll have a new devID up (curse you, Lynn!) and I'll be scanning in some more work that I'll have to clean, color, and polish before I'll let it see my gallery. I don't know what happened; one morning I woke up and I was like "I need to freaking draw, bitches!" and it was so.

So how about those bank statements, huh? I know I have no debts to worry about, and no one should be taking money from me, but everytime I get a statement in the mail, I always open it with fear and dread in my heart. With shaky hands I tear the envelope open, sliding the potentially grim document from its celophane and paper sheath. Unfolding it seems to take ages, but when I finally manage it, my eyes dart over the figures and decimals like a bar of soap on a frozen lake. I can't stop, and it's when my hyperactive eyes finally come to rest at the bottom that I can breathe once more.

Current balance: 6.05

And all is right with the world.

Some parting notes from Alice:

1: I grew up on cartoons like Swat Kats and Ninja Turtles and Disney's Robin Hood. I have an affinity (NOT a lust) of this type of animal/people artwork. I AM NOT A FUCKING FUR.

2: I am not against furries. Do whatever you want, man. It's none of my business.

3: My style varies from piece to piece because I try out tutorials, NOT because I am "biting someone's style". I will always make it known when this occurs.

4: My former account names are One-Zero and tenshi-no-tsukai. If you see one of my works floating around by one of those users, fret not, for they are not stolen.

5: I update my journal more than my art. I'm a narcissist and I'm just that much more interesting than my own work.

6: I'm only serious when it counts, so take what I say with a grain of salt. It's not my fault if you don't have a sense of humor the size of the midwest like I do. Learn to take a joke.

So Oblivion bit the dust on me. I literally played it to death. It will load up fine, but if you ever fast travel or try to enter a dungeon, the load time is endless. You are also often faced with "The disc is unreadable" messages from the console every other time you load it.

GameStop lists it as a $24 trade-in, but I got $30 for it. HAHA. I'll buy it again when the price drops. I beat all of the content in it, sort of. All that's left is random bullcrappery where you do stupid menial tasks for people. After about my 1,000,000th mission where I gathered herbs for a potion I'll drink ONCE and then be out of, I decided Oblivion was BEATEN.

I still need to play Knights of the Nine and Shivering Ises, but they, too, can wait.

I get my DS on the first of May, assuming they have pink ones in stock by that time. With my trade-in and current credit balance, I managed to pre-order Etrian Odyssey and purchased a used copy of Lunar Dragon Song for $11. I know LDS has gotten a bad rap, but I'm one of those die-hard Lunar fans who doesn't care. I watched a friend beat Lunar 2 on PSone, and now I go around and tell everyone I beat it. Why not? I know how to, and I invested just as much time watching as he did playing!

So the poll is pretty much useless, I guess. Oh well. I still really want Mario Kart DS, Lunar Knights, and to check out a Pokemon title. I actually almost bought Lunar Knights, but I opted to pre-order Etrian Odyssey and buy LDS, since it was cheaper, and I'm looking forward to the promise of old-school brutality EO brings. RPGs really are just too easy nowadays.

That, and I get to be a cartographer! Making your own map will probably get old after the first week, but really, I think it'll be fun.

ALSO I'M NOT SICK ANYMORE! YAY!
